George Chatten was born in Galston-on-Sea, Norfolk in 1938. A keen interest in nature led to his first job with the Forestry Commission. In 1960 he was encouraged to start painting and has been a professional painter ever since, painting landscapes, seascapes and coastal scenes in oil.

Over the past 30 years Chatten has developed and mastered a technique of intimate quality of his work that displays a freedom of personal expression and exploration and his paintings show a great ambition to capture the feeling and atmosphere of his subject. Chatten is still living in Norfolk and he exhibits in East Anglia, nationally and internationally He is an associate member of the Royal Society of British Artists.

Exhibitions: The Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, the Maritime Trust, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and in the USA
