Lincoln Pugh JENKINS (1901-1988) 'NUDE STUDY FROM LIFE' Oil on board Lincoln Pugh Jenkins was born in 1901 in Presteigne, North Wales. He studied at the Leicester College of Art 1918-1923 before joining the staff at the Birmingham School of Art, where he taught among other subjects life drawing and painting. In 1939, he was appointed to the staff of the Harrogate School of Art, becoming its Principal a year later. He remained there until his retirement in 1961. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, the Royal society of Birmingham Artists and the Royal Cambrian Academy, he also held several solo exhibitions in London and the provinces. His work has also been exhibited at the City Art Galleries of Leeds, York, Wakefield and Bradford. Examples of his work may be found in the permanent collections of many Museums and Galleries, including the Tate Gallery.
