Anders ALTZAR (1886-1939) 'A View of Lakes and Mountains in Dalarna' Oil on canvas After Altzar completed school he helped his father on the family farm in the province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia), but as he showed artistic talents from an early age he was trained by three local painters. The most famous of them, Gustaf Ankarcrona, became his teacher in landscape painting. He left for Stockholm at the age of 17 as it became possible for him to study at the Swedish Royal Academy there thanks to a wealthy patron. He returned to live in Dalarna in 1920. Altzar painted mainly landscapes from Dalarna. He exhibited in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and in his native Dalarna. 33 ½" x 41 ½" / 85cm x 105cm Stock no. HG 7047 |
