EMPIRE WALLCLOCK SIGNED: P. ERICSSON, STOCKHOLM SWEDISH C. 1820-1830 GILTWOOD Peter Ericsson: was apprenticed in 1808 to one of Sweden's best clockmakers, Israel Dahlström. He established himself as a clockmaker in 1820 in Gamla Stan (Old Town). Stockholm. The clock typifies the taste of the Empire period for military emblems. The dragons are the traditional defenders of the Swedish kingdom. The eagle, which is humorously ridden by a Cupid clutching a laurel wreath, symbolises Jupiter and the lightning thunderbolts symbolise Power.
