EMPIRE STYLE WALLCLOCK SIGNED: F. TORNBERG - STOCKHOLM SWEDISH LATE 19TH CENTURY GILTWOOD FREDERIC WILHELM TORNBERG (1838-1893) He is listed in the book 'Urmakare och Klockor' (Clockmakers of Sweden and Finland). He worked as an apprentice for Edvard Engelbrechten, in Gamla Stan (Stockholm Old Town), one of Sweden's leading clocksmiths. He became a member of the Clockmakers Guild and established his workshop in 1859. He specialised in railway clocks, tower clocks and wall clocks. 38" x 25 ½" (97 cm x 65 cm) Stock no. HG 6726 |
