One of the greatest achievements in Wright's career was the architectural and interior design of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo in 1923. This included all the carpets, textiles, furniture, tableware and cutlery for the main dining room and cabaret-restaurant. Imperial Circles is one of three carpets designed for the hotel. Although the hotel was demolished in 1968, Imperial Circles has appeared in magazines and books on art deco and on design, and is one of the best known carpets designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The carpet has a rich array of deep to muted browns, which contrast with the double circle border with its band of cocoa and apricot that stretching to the inner golden ring.
