Mrs Coonley, when asked by Mr. Wright why he had been selected as their architect, only needed four words: "The countenances of principle." Mr. Wright considered the Coonley complex in Riverside, Illinois to be the most successful of his prairie houses. Linear, rectangular and circular in concept. A free spirited movement of squares, rectangles - all in unequal dimensions - some vertical devices and circles amidst the whole - all in keeping with the architectural façade as well as interior décor. The subtle tones of earthen brown with mahogany, blue with a green cast and an alluring mellow gold add to the rhythm of the design
