These chairs has been repolished and re-upholstered to a very high standard and is in excellent condition. They are covered in a lining fabric.

Literature:

George Himmelheber 'The History of German Furniture' ill. 482: A set of chairs made in 1838 by Josef Danhauser, the most famous Viennese cabinetmaker. The chairs were made for Schloss Friedberg, in Tyrol, where they still are nowadays.

Angus Wilkie's book 'Biedermeier' shows Danhauser's catalogue of similar chairs, made in his workshop in Vienna.
