HG 7335 AB Svenska Möbelfabrikerna, Bodafors, was founded in 1918 as an amalgamation of a number of smaller furniture workshops in southern Sweden, they established a showroom in central Stockholm in 1920. During this period they made furniture in conjunction with Carl Malmsten who Sweden's best know furniture designer during the 1920-1930s. During the 1920s they made all furniture for Stockholm Town Hall. This furniture is considered the finest made in Sweden during the 1920s. In "Svenska Möbler 1890-1990" there are photographs of Art Deco and Modernist furniture made by Bodafors for three of Sweden's leading architect and furniture designers: Axel Acking, Elias Svedberg and Carl Hörvik (pp. 156,157, 164, 165 and 167). In 1930 they exhibited with great success at the Stockholm Exhibition that gave them an international reputation. They also supplied furniture during the 1930s for Svenskt Tenn, working closely with Josef Frank. They made furniture inspired by Alvar Aalto for the concert halls in Gothenburg and Helsingborg. By the 1940s the book "Svenska Möbler 1890-1990" states: "…they had become the most successful firm designing furniture in Scandinavia". They ceased to exist as a name in 1966 after merging with several other firms. Literature: "Svenska Möbler 1890-1990"
