Rupert Cavendish Antiques specialises in Biedermeier, Art Deco and Empire furniture as well as early 20th Century paintings.

Founded in 1981 by Rupert Cavendish and Håkan Groth, Rupert Cavendish Antiques has grown from a small antique shop into a modern and dynamic organisation with the largest collection of Biedermeier furniture in Britain.

In the fiftieth anniversary issue of House and Garden, Rupert Cavendish was named as a leading figure in Britain's innovative design culture. He also designs Neoclassical furniture on a special commission basis: the May 2000 issue of Architectural Digest features the furniture he created for Sir Elton John.

Håkan Groth is the author of Neoclassicism in the North: Swedish Furniture and Interiors 1770 - 1850. First published in 1990 by Thames and Hudson, and Rizzoli, this standard reference work has never been out of print and is often quoted by leading dealers and auction houses including Sotheby's and Christie's. Håkan Groth has written articles for a number of publications and occasionally gives lectures in Europe and the United States. His latest book Barock och Rokoko i Sverige 1650-1770 (Barock and Rococo in Sweden 1650-1770) was published in November 2005 in Sweden.

In 1996 Rupert Cavendish Antiques acquired the established firm of antiques restorers A. J. Brett & Company. Under Håkan and Rupert's expert supervision the firm restores and polishes the furniture of Rupert Cavendish Antiques to the highest possible standard. A. J. Brett & Co. are also consulted by major auctioneers including Sotheby's and Bonham's.
